Patients with malignant bone and soft tissue sarcomas have to be followed on a regular basis.
• Routine physical examinations look for any mass or recurrence of pain.
• X-rays and, in some cases, CT scans look for evidence of local tumor recurrence.
• Routine chest x-rays are done every two to three months for the first two years. Early detection of lung
metastases is important because, occasionally, surgical removal of the metastases can be curative.
